A day at the Fish Farm

I have been wanting to bring Ethan to a fish farm, so last week, we went to one located at Pasir Ris.
It is call Mainland Tropical Fish Farm is located at Pasir Ris Farmway 1. It has a lot of activities in it's compound, like pawning, fish spa, "longkang" fishing, fish feeding....etc.

The farm is huge, it has many many containers and fish tanks filled with many different types of fishes. I could see Ethan was a bit overwhelmed by the huge place. He seem to lost interest in looking at them. So we decided to go 'longkang' fishing instead.

The 'longkang' fishing cost S$4 for half an hour, pail and net were provided. So you can fish as many fishes you want and at the end you can bring them home.

As it was a weekday, there was not many people around, we had the whole 'longkang' to ourselves. But it not as easy as it seem, the fishes are very clever and fast, we were scooping for the past 10mins and end up with nothing. Ethan was so determined to scoop some himself and refused to let us help him. So we end up getting another set so he won't go home empty handed. In the end, we did mange to catch a few fishes for him to bring home. He was so happy to see them and told the fishes, 'Let's go home now, fishy'

There are also fish food for sale, where you can buy and feed the fishes in the area. They have this giant fish call the Arapaima Gigas which can be as big as 4.5M and  weigh over 1000KG. There are also alot of Koi ponds, and the fishes will surface and follow you to see if there is any food to eat.

Overall, it is a nice place to brings kids to let them experience the 'longkang' fishing and feeding the fishes. We did not have time to do pawning. Maybe next time.

Do you have any other places to share to bring kids? Do share with me. Thanks.

  2. OMG! I stay in there but din even know about this place. All I know is the Pasir Ris Park. Guilty guilty....Allysa is still young so I do like open parks like Jacob Ballas (as mentioned by Mama J), Botanical Gardens...and it’s FREE!!! Think I should explore the different parks in Sg like Hort Park? Of coz, places with animals/birds/sea creatures are definitely a big hit with kiddos too.
