35 weeks and 5 more weeks to go.....

Went to the Gynea on Sat for checkup and had my culture test done.

Culture test is done between 35 -37 weeks of pregnancy to check for bacteria called Group B Streptococci (GBS). The bacteria is usually harmless to adults but if you have it and pass it to your baby during birth, it can cause serious complications, such as pneumonia, meningitis, or a blood infection. The test is done by using a swab to take sample from the woman's vagina and rectum. This procedure is quick and is not painful. The sample is sent to a lab and the result will take up to 2 days. If the result is positive, showing that the bacteria is present, you will most likely to receive treatment with antibiotics during labor to help prevent GBS from being passed to your baby.

Well baby is growing fast and his estimated weight is about 2.8KG now with a head circumference of 33.3cm which is quite big. Ethan was born with a head circumference of 34cm. So if the next checkup if he is getting too big, I will need to be induce again way before my actual date. Which I'm secretly actually happy to give birth early, so is 1st Oct a good date???

33 weeks and 7 week more to go....

Went to the gynea yesterday with Ethan and he manage to see his brother thru the ultrasound scan. We try to point out the head, eyes, nose, legs...etc to him. He seem quite interested as he kept asking what is this, what is that and he keep pointing to the screen and call out 'didi is there'.

We have been trying to prep him for the arrival of his brother. He will sometimes kiss my tummy and 'sayang' it. But sometime he will hit my tummy. So we still don't know if he know if he is going to be a brother. But whatever it is, we hope this 2 brothers will get along.

Anyway back to the checkup, baby is doing fine, growing well. Estimated weight is 2.285 kg. Head is already down, so now we will just need to visit the gynea every 2 weeks till it time.

I really can't wait. Hope the day comes soon.

Just got my OGTT result, it NORMAL! Lucky no diabetes if not I will really cry. My feet fungus is healing but slowly. So those are the good news.

The bad new is I got rashes again! Now I have dry scaly patch on my cheeks, little red spots here and there all my body and they itch! Went to see the GP and gave me some cream and medicine for it. If it does not go away, I will need to go to the gynea to get blood test again.

Rashes rashes, please go away....

30 weeks and 10 weeks more to go....

Just went for check up yesterday and happy to know that baby is doing fine. The doctor did the growth scan and found that baby is estimated to be 1.6kg about 300g more than normal. Size of the head and tummy were measure to be slightly bigger than estimated and assured us everything is normal. And baby will be just like korkor, big baby.

The doctor also wanted me to do a Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) to see if I have diabetes. She wanted to make sure that foot fungus infection that I'm having is not a sign of diabetes. Yes, foot fungus, not sure why I have it as I have been wearing open toes sandals and it has spread from my last left toe to my 2nd toe. And the it has cause my foot to swell with water retention. So now my feet looks funny, left foot swollen while the right foot looks normal. It has make me hard to walk around these days and I have to walk really slow like a tortoise It is so torturing I really hope it will heal fast soon.

I went to do my OGTT this morning, as I need to fast for at least 8 hrs before going to the doctor. First the doctor will draw a tube of blood and after which I have to drink a big glass of glucose water. It was super super sweet and I cannot drink or eat anything until 2 hours later which I need to go and draw out another tube of blood.

The test result will be out by next Monday, keeping my fingers crossed that I do not have diabetes. *pray pray*

29 week and 11 week more to go

Encountered my 1st leg cramp this morning at 6am and I can still feel the strain at 10am. I was just telling Papa ET last night that I have not have any leg cramp till so late into my pregnancy and this morning I had one. Should have keep my mouth shut.

3rd trimester is here and I can feel the tiredness. I get legs aching just by walking for a while, back and hip also ache. Every time I climb up to the stairs to my room take longer than usual and I feel like I just ran 2.4KM. And I will complain to Papa ET we should have a lift in the house. He will just smile and say " We're almost there, dear. Hang in there." I know it will never happen, I'm just complaining.

Oh well, 11 more weeks to go...hang in there baby. Mummy will see you soon, be nice to ME!

27 weeks and 13 weeks to go....

I'm feeling very heavy nowadays. I walk like a penguin and my back is aching. My tummy is so big I feel like it going to burst anytime soon. I don't even feel like dressing and I feel so 'aunty'.

The weather has not been very kind to me. The heat is making want to stay in air condition place all the time. I perspire even when I'm having my meal in the dining hall with the fan on.

And now lying on my bed, instead of sleeping. My mind is frantically thinking of what should I eat for supper! Should I have burger with fries, noodles, bread or just go to sleep?

Urghhhh....can't wait to give birth!

Which name should I choose for my 2nd son?

I never had problems choosing a name for my first child because Papa ET immediately knew what his first child would be name. If it a boy, he will be call Ethan and if it a girl, she will be call Emma. So naturally when we knew that our first child is a boy, Ethan is his name.

So now that we are having our child, a boy. Papa ET have 2 choices, Ean and Evan, but he cannot decide which one so he told me to decide. He said it only fair I get to choose the name I like for our second son because he did so for the first son.

I did a checked on both names online and found that both names have very nice meaning. Ean means God is forgiving. Evan means God is gracious. And both sounded quite nice too. I really don't know how so I did went round asking my friends and relatives, both names have quite even number of votes.

Then I tried to imagine how would it sound if I have to call out to my sons in public, which pair would be nicer. Ethan and Ean or Ethan and Evan. Well both sound as nice I think.

Ok I have 3 months more to decide which one is better. I can have more time practicing calling out the names and see which one will grow more on me. What do you think?

25 weeks and 15 weeks to go.....

Visited the Gynea on Sat, was happy to see my baby growing well and healthy. There was a few problems I encounter during the past few weeks, so I check with my Gynea on it.

I was having some numbness in my fingers when i wake up in the morning. Sometime it's the right hand, sometime it's on the left hand and sometime both. It has been going for a few weeks so I decided to tell my Gynea about it. She say it normal during pregnancy, it's probably the swelling tissues pressing on some nerves in my hands. She also mention if the numbness and if there is pain confined to the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and half of the ring finger, it a syndrome call Carpal Tunnel syndrome (CTS) but this syndrome is more common in people who does repetitive motions of the hands like typing or playing the piano. And it can affect the hand, wrist or even the arm. But mine is not so serious and will go away after I delivered.

The other problem I have was I suddenly have this outbreak of itchy bumps the other night and I woke up in the middle of the night with swollen patches all over my body and face. I was feeling so itchy and miserable that I have to go the A&E  to get myself cured. The doc at the A&E say that I must have ate some seafood or nut in order to develop the allergy which I was rather surprised cause I never have food allergy before.
So when I told my Gynea she say it most probably  Urticaria or what my mum will call 'Feng Mo'. And mine could be cause by the sudden difference in temperature like extreme hot at one time then extreme cold. This made me realise that could be the real reason cause the weather was so hot and I was trying to keep myself cool by standing in front of the air con or bath in cold water.  Luckily it lasted only for a few days and it was gone.

This 2nd pregnancy is not smooth sailing as the 1st one. I really hope nothing major happen and I really can't wait to give birth.

24 weeks and 16 weeks to go.....

My tummy is growing bigger and bigger and it making my back ache. I'm only in my 24 weeks and 2nd trimester and I really can't wait to give birth.

And the weather now in Singapore is not very forgiving either. It so hot and humid, I just want to stay indoors with the air con on at full blast. When will the weather gets cooler...I really wonder.
